White Balance
Believe it or not, your camera doesn't know true white when it sees it. That's because what our brain interprets as "white" varies depending upon lighting conditions. Consider a white t-shirt in the shade, under direct sunlight, or under flourescent lighting. Different light sources cause the exact color of the shirt to change. Our brains automatically compensate for this. Cameras don't. They need to be told what type of light illuminates your frame.

Most cameras take photos using an "Auto" White Balance. Try changing this to match your conditions. Or be creative by purposefully not matching your conditions. Shooting in "Cloudy" mode, for instance, usually increases reds and yellows, thus producing "warmer" pictures. Give it a try next time you shoot indoors!
